Join our coed, international, community for campers ages 8 to 14 and make a positive impact on campers' lives. 

All Counselors live in a cabin with 2-3 other counselors and care for 10-15 campers in the cabin. Cabin life focuses on creating a community with a diverse group of campers, fostering individual growth and maintaining the cabin "family". Counselors also teach 4 periods each day in a variety of program areas. Details of program areas and responsibilities are outlined below.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with children, desire to make an impact on others, ability to create a communal living environment. Experience with problem solving, conflict resolution and teaching a plus. 

Programs For Teens

Outdoor Adventure Travel Camp Leader:
Program features ropes course, wilderness canoe trip, hiking, rock climbing, and white water rafting with a small group of teens.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead a small teen group on short wilderness and outdoor adventures. Includes, outdoor living education, camping most nights and preparing own meals. Oversee daily health and well-being of teens on trips, behavior management, conflict resolution. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Experienced group leaders familiar with rustic lifestyle and outdoor living. Must be able to create and implement a program that will inspire cooperative living. Wilderness First Aid or equivalent certifications and lifeguard certification preferred, or we will help you acquire. 


Community Living and Service Program:
Program features community living and service projects throughout Maine and within the Hidden Valley community for children ages 14 and 15.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan projects for group of teens; goals for activities are to become active members of the local community, learn more about how communities are formed and operate, and how to be a participating member of those communities, and help them learn to lead and manage the micro community in which they live. Projects may include: restoring natural resources, working with younger children and the elderly and volunteering at local fairs and festivals. The Community Program lives on a 17-acre off-the-grid farmstead, with a large garden and private space for exploration. The group prepares some of its own meals and explores community projects around the state of Maine. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Experienced group leaders familiar with community living principles, community service experience, and knowledge of how to manage group dynamics. Must be able to create and implement a program that will inspire cooperative living. 


Visual and Performing Artist Colony Leaders:
Program features advanced performing and visual arts work for teens aged 14-15. Instill your love of the arts into children from across the globe with the freedom to follow your own path in the creative process.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan curriculum for group's month at camp. Activities will include trips out of camp to see performances and galleries around the state of Maine, theater and visual arts course work, and will culminate in a performance conceived of, written, directed and starred in by the teens, as well as an art gallery to feature their work. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with children, and teaching children at a variety of skill levels preferred. Course work or experience in any of the visual or performing arts areas preferred. 

Waterfront

Aquatics Director:
Facilities include a pool and lakefront with canoes, kayaks, and windsurfers.

RESPONSIBILIES: Supervision of daily activity and staff at aquatics facilities. Training and performance oversight of life guarding staff, monitoring facilities and reporting maintenance needs, life guarding responsibilities and opportunities to teach swimming and a variety of other classes.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a lifeguard, experience teaching swim lessons and working with children, management experience a plus. 


Swimming Instruction Program Staff:
Lakefront and heated pool.

RESPONSIBILITIES: facilitate all aspects of swimming class curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their skill development as well as group skills.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching or coaching children, ability to work in a non-competitive environment, comfortable working in a group setting. 


Lifeguard Program Staff:
Lakefront and heated pool.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lifeguard for variety of water based classes including windsurfing, swim lessons, boating, and fishing

QUALIFICATIONS: Strong swimming ability, American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or willingness to be trained, comfortable working in a group setting. 


Windsurfing Instruction Program Staff:
Lakefront with no power boats.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate all aspects of windsurfing class curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their skill development as well as group skills.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching or coaching children, comfortable working in a group setting. 


Boating Program Staff:
Lakefront with canoes, kayaks and windsurfers.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate all aspects of boating class curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their skill development as well as group skills.
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching or coaching children, comfortable working in a group setting. 

Visual and Technical Arts

Professional Stained Glass Program Staff:
Professional staff specializes in teaching classes and overseeing program areas without cabin responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop curriculum, oversee area staff, order supplies and coordinate all aspects of stained glass programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experienced teachers, comfortable working in a group setting. Supervisory experience preferred. 


Ceramics Program Staff:
Separate classes in hand building and wheel pottery.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Help to develop and implement ceramics curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their creative efforts and interests in the area of ceramics.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced ceramics skills, experience teaching children, passion for arts, comfortable working in a group setting.  


Videographer & Video Instructor:
Document camp events for promotional production and media library; produce camper-created videos

RESPONSIBILITIES: Videographer: Daily filming, off-loading, etc.; Instruction: Teach small groups of children, editing, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS: Basic understanding of video tech., desire to tell camp's story and those of creative campers, excellent organizational skills, understanding of event video and familiarity with camera settings, light, framing, etc.


Woodworking Program Staff:
Full woodshop with power and hand tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Help to develop and implement woodshop curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their creative efforts and interests in the area of woodwork.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced carpentry skills, experience teaching children, passion for arts, comfortable working in a group setting. 


Photography Program Staff:
2 black and white 35mm darkrooms to teach children the art of composing and developing pictures.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Help to develop and implement photography curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their creative efforts and interests in the area of 35mm photography.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of 35mm camera use, enlargers, and developing techniques, experience teaching children, passion for arts, comfortable working in a group setting. 


Visual Arts Program Staff: Classes offered in textiles, costume making, jewelry, batik, screen-printing, lino-printing, drawing, painting, nature crafts, and any ideas you bring to camp!

RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement arts curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their creative efforts and interests in a variety of arts areas.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced arts skills, experience teaching children, passion for arts, comfortable working in a group setting. 

Performing Arts


Theater Program Staff:
Theater Program Staff: Musical and Shakespeare productions each session as well as classes in improv, theater games, and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES: All aspects of performance preparation (production selection, casting, directing, stage managing, etc), work one on one and with groups of children to support their creative efforts and interests in the area of theater.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching children, acting, directing experience, passion for arts, comfortable working in a group setting. 


Dance Program Staff:
3 dance studios, instruction in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, tap, salsa, African, and any specialty you posses!

RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement dance curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their creative efforts and interests in the area of dance. Help campers put together short performance for camp.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced dance training, experience teaching children, passion for arts, comfortable working in a group setting. 


Music/Guitar Program Staff:
Ample musical space, pianos and guitars for general use, campers bring instruments with them as well. Recording studio with electric guitars, drum kit and other equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement musical curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their creative efforts and interests in the area of music. Help campers put together short performance for camp.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced musical training, experience teaching children, passion for arts, comfortable working in a group setting. 

Sports

Adventure/Ropes Program Staff:
Extensive challenge course includes team-building and group work as well as high ropes course with multiple elements, and 2 zip-lines on camp.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate all aspects of ropes experience. Lead initiative activities, group building and technical climbing, work one on one and with groups of children to support their adventures and personal growth.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working on adventure challenge course preferred. Experience teaching children, passion for adventure, comfortable working in a group setting. 


Mountain Biking Program Staff:
Miles of forested trails to explore!

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate all aspects of mountain biking class curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their skill development. Basic bike maintenance knowledge helpful.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching children, ability to work in a non-competitive environment, comfortable working in a group setting. 


Archery Program Staff:
Lovely archery course with all new equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate all aspects of introductory and intermediate archery, support children's skill development. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching children, ability to work in a non-competitive environment, comfortable working in a group setting. Credentials preferred but not essential. 


Sports Program Staff:
Skatepark, tennis courts, basketball court, soccer field, and ample field space. Instruction offered in most sports including: softball, volleyball, tennis, skateboarding, ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee golf, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and many more!

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate all aspects of sports class curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their skill development as well as group skills.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching or coaching children, ability to work in a non-competitive environment, comfortable working in a group setting. 

Animals


Equestrian Director:
24 horse barn with three spacious rings and miles of forested trails.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversight of and planning for daily activities at the horse barn, including camper lessons, stable management, and general horse care. Overall supervision and planning of instructor training and management.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as English riding instructor and/or stable manager required. Prior experience as a people manager and work with children favored; instructor certifications beneficial. 


Equestrian Program Staff:
24 horses ridden in three spacious rings and miles of forested trails. Riding instructors teach a variety of skills levels with a focus on the basics of English riding.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach and/or assist with group riding lessons, work with co-instructor to determine daily lesson plans and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced riding abilities. Experience working with children required. Prior work instructing individual or group lessons, or instructor certifications preferred. 


Llama Program Staff:
Care of a herd of 9 llamas. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate all aspects of llama care class curriculum; work one on one and with groups of children to support their skill development.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching children, comfortable working in a group setting, knowledge of basic animal care. Knowledge of llama needs not necessary, interest in working with and learning about llamas needed. 


Animal Program Staff:
Numerous farm animals, including, but not limited to: donkeys, mini-horses, pigs, cats, ducks, and rabbits.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate all aspects of animal care class curriculum; work one on one and with groups of children to support their skill development.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching children, comfortable working in a group setting, knowledge of basic animal care. Knowledge of animals needs not necessary, interest in working with and learning about animals needed. 

Outdoor Living Staff 

Help direct a small, earth-oriented "tipi village". A group of 12 campers and staff lives in 3 tipis situated on the top of a beautiful grassy hill amidst 350 acres of fields, pine forest, lake and streams. The program includes craft work with natural materials, music, stories, wood skills, outdoor cooking, canoeing, exploring and fun.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to create/implement a program that will inspire cooperative living. Plan and execute on activities for group on a daily basis. Oversee cooking of meals, and the daily heath and well-being of children in program.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with children and living outdoors is required. Knowledge of earth dwelling and Native American cultures beneficial.
