Kitty hugs

Kitty hugs

Hi there, friends! Olive Oyl here with a post to keep you smiling and put you in the camp spirit if the colder weather has gotten you down.

For all that have experienced the magic of HVC, we know that animals make up a huge part of that excitement and fun. Maybe you fondly (or not-so-fondly) remember the special camp alarm clock that is our sweet donkeys Jack and Jill. And of course they share a home with our mini ponies Ace and Seven, where campers love to stop by for animal care, or especially for kitten cuddles while walking to class or on the way to lunch. In fact, the kittens may be the #1 reason that campers love HVC–they’re fuzzy, they’re adorable, and they’re always there for you when you need a hug.

Then there’s our pride and joy, the llama pen, home to many a llama and this past summer, two new super cute baby alpacas! And how could we forget the wanna-be llama, Dexter? A staple of camp life and oddly very happy amongst his llama companions.

And then there’s some animals that only come out on special occasions. Like a late night walk to the cabin before bed where you may spot a beautiful luna moth perching on the front porch. Or maybe it’s one of the most special days of all, lobster banquet, and two very funny looking cows emerge amongst a screaming dining hall handing out pints upon pints of Ben & Jerry’s! Quite a sight to behold.

There’s a beautiful friendship of animals and people, people and people, and animals and animals at Hidden Valley. Take a look at the photos below and don’t forget to check out the HVC instagram for more photos of creatures of all kinds!
