Hidden Valley 8

Hello, one and all! Olive Oyl here with an update and HVC time-capsule.

Spring seems to finally be in the air…the sun is shining and the summer is on our mind. We can’t wait for all the fun traditions that camp brings, one of the oldest and most cherished being Pine Grove. Pine Grove marks the start and the close of every summer, with cabins sharing songs, stories, and jokes all around a cracklin’ fire and amongst the beautiful pines atop Tipi Hill. Closing Pine Grove is particularly amazing for the candle ceremony, where every camper, counselor, and staff member get a candle so that they touch flames with every individual HVC-er and say a special goodbye. Above is a vintage photo of campers walking up Tipi Hill to Pine Grove, led by a torch and walking in silence, a tradition that still happens today, allowing time for peace and reflection.

Just a few more months until staff and counselors begin arriving to get camp ready, and before we know it first session will be in full swing! We’re so excited to continue these long-lasting traditions and make new memories.

Until we meet again,

Olive
