Hey Bum Bum Bum…Got Any announcements?
Of course we do!
One week ago today, we welcomed our second session of campers to Hidden Valley Camp, and what an incredible first week it has been. New friendships have formed, projects are already taking shape, and the Valley has been buzzing with energy from sunrise to lights out.
Wednesday was our second day of classes and it featured great weather and even better vibes. The sense of community around camp was only briefly interrupted by one of our favorite traditions: Cabin Feud! We asked 100 campers what the vibe was... survey says they came ready to compete! Cabins battled it out on stage with quick thinking and teamwork, making for another unforgettable evening program.
Thursday brought another fantastic round of Electives!, with campers spreading out across camp to enjoy a wide variety of short activities. Whether it was creating a new art piece, getting active, or simply trying something outside their comfort zone, there was no shortage of fun to be found.
On Friday, we shifted into a slightly slower gear for our first Lazy Day of the session. The older half of camp traveled to Lake St. George, spending the day swimming, relaxing, and soaking up the sunshine. Meanwhile, the younger half stayed at camp for their own adventure, racing through challenges in another action-packed edition of The Amazing Race. Teamwork, creativity, and a little friendly competition made it a great success.
As if the day couldn't get any better, the evening brought a very special guest to Hidden Valley. Singer-songwriter Jesse Ruben joined us for an unforgettable show that had campers and staff dancing, singing, clapping, and weaving through the crowd in conga lines.
Class Day 4 saw campers diving back into their projects and adventures. The glass studios burned with creativity, woodworking projects continued to take shape, hikers explored the surrounding trails, mountain bikers tackled the terrain, anglers cast their lines into the water, and countless other classes kept campers learning, creating, and discovering new passions.
That evening, we dusted off our boots for the Wild Wild West Dance. Cowboy hats, plaid shirts, and plenty of line dancing transformed camp into the Old West, with everyone two-stepping, laughing, bobbing for apples, searching through the hay stack, tossing some rings, and yelling “Yeehaw!” all through the night.
As we wrap up another week, we want to thank all of our camp families for sharing your campers with us. Every day brings new adventures and storeis, stronger friendships, and memories that will last far beyond the summer. Another exciting week is just around the corner, and can't wait to see what’s in store next!
