Switcheroo!
You’re probably confused by the blog title, right? Well, that’s because on Sunday evening, we switched things up in Bazinga!
For the duration of dinner and the evening programme, counselors were randomly assigned to different cabins, giving them the chance to experience what it’s like to be a counselor to campers from a different age group, a different gender, or sometimes even both! These “new” cabin groups then took part in either California Kickball or a Cardboard Fortress–Water-Balloon War, depending on their age group. Safe to say, there were plenty of high spirits, laughter, and good-natured chaos in both activities!
The following Lazy Day brought another exciting trip away from camp. Our older cabins headed to the bowling alley for some classic candlepin bowling, while the younger half stayed at camp for an entertaining and educational science show. Both groups had their fair share of fun in the morning before returning to camp for some much-needed downtime and relaxation by the pool.
That evening, everyone came together in the backyard for Valleyfest!, our camper talent show where campers get the opportunity to bring their unique and amazing talents to the stage. The timing couldn't have been better for our Apprentices, who had just returned from their own adventure to the Colby Museum of Art. After a day of exploring art and creativity, they arrived back at camp just in time to enjoy the show and cheer on their fellow campers.
August 12th brought us another eventful and adventurous day as campers returned to their regular classes. Then, as evening rolled around, things took another festive turn with our Holiday Dance! Jingles, costumes, games, dancing, and plenty of holiday spirit filled the evening as campers and counselors celebrated together.
And just like that, we're approaching the final week of another incredible summer at Hidden Valley. As we get closer to the end of the 2026 season, we want to extend our biggest thank you to all of you for helping make this summer such a special one. We can't wait to share another summer with you all, but until then, let's make these final days count!
