Kicking Things off Again!

Just a few days ago, we had to say goodbye to all our first session friends :(

BUT…today, our sorrow was flipped to joy as we welcomed to camp, our new group of friends for the second session (woop-woop)! Buses and cars rolled in from various parts of the country, with campers from various parts of the world, and we cannot wait to spend the next four weeks with every single one of them and form meaningful, long-time relationships with them.

From as early as 9AM today, we had cars rolling in to camp to drop off campers from all around the place — some were long-time camp friends, whilst others were new attendees who are trying Hidden Valley Camp (and maybe summer camp in general), out for the first time — but, whether you are a seasoned returner or a new camper, we welcome you all to our special Hidden Valley community!

Arrivals dropped in throughout the entire day as we welcomed more cars driving in. A few hours past noon, we welcomed our first bus, and shortly after that, we welcomed our second bus and although the weather wasn’t great, the energy definitely was and we hope to carry this on throughout the session because what was an empty, quiet camp over intersession, quickly turned into an echoing, cheerful valley full of 200+ campers and staff, ready for another four weeks of fun and learning!

After every counselor was united with their camper, and camper reunited with their camp friends, we headed back to our cabins for some settling in and making our cabins as cozy as possible. After that, we met in the rec hall for our first evening meeting of the session and later went for dinner before heading back to the rec hall again for Opening Night Skits!

Tomorrow looks like another busy day as we have Orientation Day campers will get a chance to sign up for their first set of two-week classes, have their camp photo taken, take their swim evaluations at either the lake or pool, and get an all-camp tour! At the end of this busy day, we will meet up for opening Pinegrove!

As per Weather Guy (…and pal), the weather tomorrow is expected to cool and clear up a little bit with a low, low chance of schvitz, and temperatures of about 70° F (21° C), which means we can expect to have an awesome Orientation Day!
