Blue Skies, Big Smiles
We know some of you tuning in from afar have been keeping an eye on the weather and environmental reports, but we are thrilled to share that HVC weather has been just about perfect. Our Maine skies are a brilliant, crystal-clear blue, the camp air is fresh and completely free of any smoke from the Canadian wildfires, and conditions couldn’t be better for another memorable week of summer fun. It is the kind of weather that makes you want to spend every possible moment outodoors and we’ve been doing exactly that!
The week got off to a striking note with a Lazy Day! The fun certainly did not slow down as the schedule did however, as our older campers headed to the bowling alley for some candlepin bowling. Back on camp, our younger group were awed by a terrific science show! Later that night, we proceeded to the Rec Hall for Valleyfest! a talent show like no other; from singing and dancing, to comedy and other impressive talents, the campers took to the stage and carried their confidence with.
The fun does not stop there. Camp has been buzzing over the past few days and weeks as we monitor the world of soccer (or football) in the FIFA World Cup! Spain and France provided a blockbuster of a match enjoyed by our international soccer-loving staff and their campers, whilst Argentina v England had us biting our nails!
Speaking of sports! The Pickle Ball tournament began a few days ago and we have some amazing matchups in the camper singles and doubles, and the counselor singles and doubles. Each match has been filled with the right amount of rallies, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit! We cannot wait to see who earns the sessions’ bragging rights! The spirit carries on tomorrow afternoon with one of camp’s main events: the Camper v Counselor Soccer Game. This long-standing Camp Clásico is always a highlight and campers have been preparing for it for FOUR WEEKS! Can the counselors get another victory? Or will the campers triumph? We’ll find out in a few hours.
Class Day 4 brought up a groovy atmosphere as we had to lace up our dancing shoes for two amazing evening programmes! The younger half met in the backyard for the Monochrome Dance, whilst the older half got their dress shoes and outfits our for the Contra Dance!
As we look ahead, we're excited for one final Electives! night of the session. With cooler temperatures and beautiful clear skies, campers will have the chance to soar down the hill zipline, battle it out in Capture the Flag, create colorful glass beads, hike to the blueberry field, and enjoy countless other adventures planned by our counselors. It's the perfect way to wrap up another incredible week at Hidden Valley Camp.
Every day reminds us why summers at Hidden Valley are so special. Whether it's trying something new, cheering on friends, competing on the courts and fields, or simply enjoying another beautiful Maine sunset, memories are being made around every corner—and we can't wait to share more of them with you next week.
