10 to Go!

The past few days in the valley have been jam-packed with excitement, creativity, and bittersweet goodbyes as we close off our first two weeks, and welcomed a new group of (few) campers.

One of our highlights this past week was the Rock Band Lunch performance, where campers took to the stage and showed off the rock ‘n roll skills they’ve been practicing over the weeks. The energy was certainly high as the campers and staff cheered on every performance.

Later that day, we gathered inside the rec hall for Sharing Night, giving campers the chance to showcase what they’ve been working on in their classes. We sat down for well-written poetry from the poetry class, amazing choreography from the dance class, a game of “why am I late to work” by the improv class, show-and-tell by the hiking class (they brought a dead tree trunk, made colourful by them!), and many other amazing and funny renditions.

We continued the fuzzy, warm, camp feeling with Pajama Day, when campers and their counselors switched out their day-to-day attires for their cozy lounge-wear. This relaxed atmosphere featured a perfect weather forecast as we said goodbye to our two-week campers and said hello to new friends joining us for the rest of July! Speaking of friends, we also welcomed back an old friend of ours, Kim Harris who lifted our spirits with the liveliest performance in the backyard.

The following day was class day 1 all over again but the main event was Electives! and just as usual, it was filled with excitment and cheers. The fun didn’t stop there however, as we spun the wheel on a new week in the most exciting, and most exhilirating way at THE WHEEL OF MISFORTUNE! Like every edition, this edition was full of face pies, prizes to be won, and “Aww geez” moments. The counselors really put on an amazing show, loved and adored by all.

We switch things up again tonight in Bazinga! Where our counselors get to enjoy an evening programme with an entirely new cabin for the night before returning back to their cabins. The younger half will be playing predator-prey, whilst the older half will setup cardboard fortresses and trying to destroy another’s fortress with water balloons!

With our new arrivals settling in and another block of classes underway, we’re looking forward to even more adventures, friendships, and unforgettable Hidden Valley memories in the weeks ahead.
