Approaching the Half

In just a few days from now, we will be halfway through our second session and slowly gearing towards the end of the 2025 HVC summer camp season. But before we can even think of the goodbyes to come, let’s look back at the last four days in the Valley!

On class day four, we experienced a really hot day at Hidden Valley Camp, so to cool off, we had a Pool Dance Party evening programme. We played volleyball, had a jam session, got tanned, had a pool noodle sword fight, threw frisbees, and obviously…splashed some water!

And on class day five, we sat down in the rec hall, watching our counselors show us their tricks and skills at the Staff Talent Show, encouraging all of us to sign up for Valleyfest coming up in a few days! We sat on invisible benches, witnessed magic, Irish danced, played the guitar, and lip synced!

But before that…we indulged in camp’s finest cuisine…BABY FOOD! This time it came with a few new twists, we had new flavours, food pouches, sound effects, more “eeuuuhhh” moments, green sliimey stuff, and the blender made a return!

The following day was just as busy. The Pickleball Tournament kicked off with some singles and doubles matchups happening during Interest Groups. We witnessed a lot of close games and loads of comebacks!

In the morning, just as we were seated for morning meeting we were interrupted by candy falling from the sky once more! Hersheys kisses, Starbusts, chocolate bars, and some little sweet notes all filled around the gazebo, and at night we all settled down with our cabin groups for another Cabin Night.

Yesterday’s Lazy Day was just as eventful as every other Lazy Day, with a multitude of fun going around. The younger half enjoyed a drive to Lake St. George were they spent the day basking in the sun and enjoying the cool water, the older half stayed on camp for Music Day! They played musical chairs, designed album covers, made artist impersonations, and just straight up had an all-round jam session. Whilst these were happening, the Apprentices took a trip to Nervous Nellies Jams & Jellies — a really beautiful, 6-acre, sculpture garden in Deer Isle, ME.

At the end of everyone’s busy days, we met at the rec hall field for more dancing and singing brought to us by the Half Moon Jug Band! Upbeat and positive, they did whatever it took to get us singing along and dancing in the rec hall field.
