Spotlight On Trip Lazy Days

Across the Hidden Valley Camp website and other social media platforms, it is easy to find information on what goes on at camp and the kinds of classes we offer. And while classes are undoubtedly the highlight of most people’s summer, every so often, camp experiences a LAZY DAY. On these days, we do not have classes and special programming takes place.

This month’s blog post will shine a light on a couple of Lazy Day Trips from summer 2025.

Montville Field Day

During summer 2025, while the younger half was bowling, the older half took the short trip down the road to the Montville Field Day. Not only did campers experience a little bit of the local community, campers were able to run in the Montville Field Day race. And as the picture shows us, HVC ran quite well!

Campers also got to ride in the back of one of the special camp vehicles during the parade portion of the field day. Campers played instruments and waved to those on the sides of the road, radiating positive camp energy.

HVC Fun Fact: Some of the HVC staff who live in Maine helped to organize the field day.

Bangor State Fair

This lazy day trip is unique in two ways: 1) This trip is only taken by the older half and, 2) It only takes place during second session. Even if you’ve been going to camp for ten years, you may have never been to the fair.

The summer 2025 trip to the Bangor State Fair was long awaited because camp has not held this trip since before the pandemic. Much like the Montville Field Day, the Bangor State Fair is a great way for campers to get a sense of Maine happenings outside of camp property. Campers enjoyed rides, games, and fair food!

Bowling
During the Bowling trips, each cabin claims one or two lanes. Music plays in the alley as campers and counselors indulge in an activity a little different from everyday camp life.

Who was the best bowler in your cabin?

Camp Cat Update

Camp cats are camp celebrities! In honor of yesterday being National Cat Day, please enjoy pictures of camp cats. The pictured cats include Killer, Poppy, Juniper, Colin, Greyboy, and Betty. Now is a great time to consider if you want to adopt one of the camp cats next summer!
