Approaching the Half!
We’re almost two weeks into the session, and what an incredible almost-two-weeks it has been!
Early into the session, our Hidden Valley Adventures campers headed out on a six-day canoeing expedition through the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. After days of exploring the wilderness and being one with nature, they returned to camp earlier this week to share their experience, recharge, and gear up for the next adventure.
As we reach the midpoint of our session, we’re also wrapping up the first two-week block of classes. Campers are preparing to switch into a new set of classes for the remainder of the session, with some of those classes being “mini” classes — which are shorter classes that don’t take up the standard eight-day stretch of lessons, but rather a four-day stretch, meaning campers can enjoy more than one mini at a time divided into eight days, giving them a chance to try out more new things, and continue nurturing pre-existing interests. This time of the session also means saying goodbye to our two-week campers, whilst also welcoming in a group joining us for the rest of the session — and some for the rest of summer!
Speaking again of classes, the end of the first block means we’re creeping towards Sharing Night! campers will get an opportunity to present everything they’ve been learning and creating in their classes, which often involves creative projects, tasty delicacies, amazing choreographies and performances, and sometimes even hilarous skits.
Our second Cabin Night was just as magical and memorable as the first. Campers and counselors did fun activites like roasting s’mores, grabbing ice cream, baking cookies, making homemade pizza, flying down the zipline, and making tie-dye shirts together…as a cabin!
Lazy Day brought more fun as the older half of camp got to ignore their alarms and sleep in for a bit before celebrating Summerween, where they carved watermelons, turned into mummies, and shared some giggles in face paint — as this was happening on camp, the younger half of camp were treated to a morning off camp and spent their time at Lake St. George.
Once everyone was back together at camp, we laced up our dancing shoes, and danced the night away to the Half Moon Jug Band’s lively performance beneath a clear Montville evening sky!
We close off another week, and with so much of the session (and summer) still ahead, we cannot to see what’s next!
