Visual Arts
Professional instruction fosters many artistic experiences at all skill levels. There's something for everyone, as campers express themselves creatively in our 15 art studios and workshops.
Glass Arts
HVC campers design their own traditional stained glass pieces - mirrors, window hangings, etc. - and that's just the beginning! Campers make fused glass plates, bowls and plaques. They create jewelry and small sculptures in the glass bead studio. And the Beehive is home to a dynamic glass blowing program where campers produce glass flowers, cups and more.
Campers melt glass to create sculptures and glass bead jewelry.
Ceramics
Hidden Valley's 3 room pottery studio features 5 wheels, a huge open space where children create an infinite number of hand-building projects, and 3 kilns, a slab roller and just outside a special spot for raku firings.
Woodworking & Metal Work
The sky's the limit in this active and exciting camp area! Make furniture for home, create free form sculptures, invent a toy and more!
Photo
Two darkrooms support HVC's dedication to the "ancient art" of analog black and white photography. We provide each camper with a 35 millimeter camera and they print their photos.
Textiles
Silkscreen, tie dye or batik a T-shirt. Create a pillow or stuffed animal. You'll bring something home that you'll have forever!
Fine Arts
Three art studios are dedicated to drawing and painting, papier mâché and other forms of expression.
Musical Instrument Making
Campers make dulcimers, ukuleles, xylophones and thumb pianos and then learn to play these lovely creations.

HVC’s Mosaic Murals
All around Hidden Valley, you will find huge mosaic projects conceived by our professional artists and executed by campers during the summer. The mural in our dining hall includes 80,000 tiny pieces of glass and was made during one summer by campers.
What Parents Say
We chose Hidden Valley for Mad because she loves art! Every summer, she comes home with new projects and crafts. She has especially enjoyed making instruments and learning to play them.
- HVC Parent
The craft classes are much more intensive and engaging for both kids than I imagined. Stained glass, woodworking etc. The kids have a chance to undertake serious responsibility which is great to observe in action. And those who teach the classes so thoughtful and engaged.
- HVC Parent
She had a wonderful time and experience at Hidden Valley, full of joy, friendship, and many beautiful human and "artistic" experiences.
